Fractional Excretion Urea (FEUrea)
Urea excretion is not thought to be promoted by diuretics yet is still retained in volume depleted states. Fractional Excretion of Urea (FEUrea) = ( Uurea * PCr ) / ( Purea * UCr ) * 100
|Urine urea (Uurea):||mmol/L|
|Plasma creatinine (PCr):||µmol/L|
|Plasma urea/BUN (Purea):||mmol/L|
|Urine creatinine (UCr):||µmol/L|
|Fractional Excretion of Urea (FEUrea):||%|
A FEUrea less than 35% indicates pre-renalazotemia, while a FEUrea > 35% is indicative of intrinsic renal failure.
