Fractional Excretion Urea (FEUrea)
Urea excretion is not thought to be promoted by diuretics yet is still retained in volume depleted states. Fractional Excretion of Urea (FEUrea) = ( Uurea * PCr ) / ( Purea * UCr ) * 100
| Urine urea (Uurea): | mmol/L |
| Plasma creatinine (PCr): | µmol/L |
| Plasma urea/BUN (Purea): | mmol/L |
| Urine creatinine (UCr): | µmol/L |
| Fractional Excretion of Urea (FEUrea): | % |
A FEUrea less than 35% indicates pre-renalazotemia, while a FEUrea > 35% is indicative of intrinsic renal failure.
