Rapid Shallow Breathing Index, RSBI

Rapid Shallow Breathing Index (RSBI) is a ratio determined by the patent’s respiratory rate (f) divided by the tidal Volume (Vt). RSBI = f/Vt. A Rapid Shallow Breathing Index of less than 105 is generally considered as an indication of weaning readiness.
